“ The new technologies which are now available for manufacturing products are far removed from the past when product design was determined predominantly by mechanical processes. We are moving into a virtual era in which it will not necessarily be possible to understand the way in which something was manufactured by simply looking at it. Adopting too much of a flowing shape for a product like MELLOW LIGHT V would have been inappropriate: when one enters a room, one can see hundreds of such luminaires in rows on the ceiling with constant repetition of an identical product. Here we need to devise an idiom which, even when repeated, is refreshing without constantly calling for attention.”

Although slightly higher investment costs have to be initially factored in for MELLOW LIGHT V, renovating existing louvre lighting pays for itself after just 3.5 years. This innovative LED luminaire proves to be an economical solution in the medium and long term. This is explained by its low energy and maintenance costs. Additional efficiency can be obtained by using lighting control such as DIMLITE. Presence detectors and daylight sensors effectively reduce the need for artificial lighting and improve convenience at the same time. With an energy consumption of less than 2 W/m²/100 lx, MELLOW LIGHT V is recommended for buildings where sustainability certification is required.

Surface anatomy of a Brightness-Optik
A unique distinguishing feature of the optic is that it is manufactured in one piece but combines various types of light distribution in one unit. Efficient, finely structured lenticular lenses (on right in photo) perfectly break up the lamp image, so that luminaires and workstations can be arranged independently in the room. The lateral lighting chamber with Soft Edge Prismatic Structure (on left in photo) ensures typically “mellow” brightness distribution in the room while also reducing luminance to a level perfectly suited to office applications.
Surface anatomy of a HighDefinition-Optik
Combining high performance with a more structured and detailed appearance, the one-piece HD optic makes optimum use of the latest technology. From the soft MELLOW LIGHT distribution to the high light output ratio, the HD optic is the perfect choice for the modern workplaces.
Surface anatomy of a MicroVane-Optik
With its bright metallic surface, the MicroVane optic provides a pleasantly elegant contrast to the lighting chamber boasting soft glare control. In addition, miniaturised cross blades provide effective glare limitation in compliance with EN 12464, with luminance levels below 1000 or 1500 cd/m² above 65°.
Flexibility thanks to diversity
The amount of light produced by MELLOW LIGHT V
ranges from 2,000 lm to over 7,000 lm. This means that the twin objectives of as few luminaries as possible and maximum possible lighting efficiency can both be met. Hitherto well-known in its square luminaire incarnation, MELLOW LIGHT V now also comes as a linear luminaire that boasts an impressively slim shape combined with extremely high light output ratios. MELLOW LIGHT V is also versatile when it comes to choosing a lamp technology.
MELLOW LIGHT V bears the eco+ label for especially resource-friendly products. For more information on eco+, please visit zumtobel.com/eco
With a luminous efficiency of up to 75 lm/W, the latest LED generation of MELLOW LIGHT V is more efficient than the conventional version of the previous generation by up to 65 %. In combination with the light sources’ service life of 50,000 hours, the way is cleared for the economically efficient use of LEDs for general office lighting.
Lighting quality Individual LED lighting points are broken up perfectly by the primary optic, which prevents multiple shadows while providing highly uniform illumination of the task area.
Thermal management The highly effective passive cooling system ensures optimum heat dissipation despite its small dimensions. As the LED board and heat sink are closely connected to each other, the cooling system ensures a long service life of the LED module.
Control MELLOW LIGHT V LED is basically equipped with a DALIdimmable converter to combine optimum lighting quality with maximum energy saving potential.
Minimum maintenance effort Thanks to the LED’s long service life, the maintenance effort of MELLOW LIGHT V LED is reduced to a minimum. Replacement of the light source is usually not necessary. An additional sealing rim fitted around the optic reduces soiling of the luminaire.
Sustainability Thanks to mercury-free light sources, a long service life and, last but not least, high luminaire efficiency, MELLOW LIGHT V makes a sustainable contribution to environmental protection.
Cool Spot Cooler MELLOW LIGHT V compact fluorescent lamps are selectively cooled to their optimum operating temperature by the patented Cool Spot Cooler. Excessive heat is passively conducted by the CSC from the lamp to the luminaire housing, which considerably improves both the energy efficiency and service life of the light sources.
Control gear MELLOW LIGHT V is fitted with electronic control gear as standard. Optional dim²save devices make it easier to get into the world of dimming. For maximum convenience and minimum energy consumption, MELLOW LIGHT V is also available with DALI-dimmable control gear as standard. zumtobel.com/dim2save
High-performance reflector An innovative high-performance reflector made of microcellular plastic covers nearly all of the inside of MELLOW LIGHT V. A reflection factor of 99 % ensures that absolutely no light is lost inside the luminaire.
Plug-in connection system MELLOW LIGHT V products are generally fitted with the non-proprietary LINECT® plug-in connection system.
All-round sealing rim
Provides a clean seal between the
luminaire's optic and housing,
thus protecting against soiling.
Lighting chamber Soft Edge Prismatic (SEP) Structure
with gently rounded microprisms for mellow brightness
distribution in the room with simultaneous reduction
of luminance levels at every viewing angle.
Seamless housing The matt white powder-coated
luminaire housing is seamlessly welded at the corners,
thus ensuring perfectly harmonious integration into the ceiling.
Thanks to the integrated LED emergency lighting’s characteristic light distribution, one luminaire is enough to provide sufficient orientation for an area of 130 m² and to make escape routes or obstacles visible. Thus, the number of emergency luminaires as well as the output required by the supply systems can be reduced.
The ONLITE RESCLITE emergency luminaire is a great way of continuing the LED concept into areas where there is no MELLOW LIGHT V. The RESCLITE app for mobile devices makes designing emergency lighting really straightforward and convenient.
