Minimal look and reduced dimensions
When designing MELLOW LIGHT IV, the main objective for the team at Studio & Partners was to optimise the lighting quality, yet to modernise the design appearance of the luminaire to harmonise with contemporary architecture. The luminaire unit has been reduced by translucent, almost immaterial lighting wings, therefore putting the room and its architectural features to the fore. The innovative lighting chamber concept and the compact, efficient T16 light source give the luminaire unit its low-profile look. This makes MELLOW LIGHT IV appear almost two-dimensional, meeting the requirements of modern office architecture.

Glare-free light from every angle
The micro-prismatic optic with innovative cross pattern made of two layers of visually high-grade PMMA increases the luminaire’s light output ratio while providing appropriate glare control for a variety of application areas. In combination with photometrically sophisticated lighting chambers, its thermal management, efficient light sources and electronic control gear, the innovative optic provides this classic luminaire with extra efficiency. The luminaire can be positioned freely in the room and is suitable for lighting both upright and inclined displays. Glare control for upright displays complies with the specifications of EN 12464.

Inspired by daylight
Long-term studies have shown that lighting quality similar to daylight enhances the users’ sense of well-being and productive capacity. The lighting effect created by MELLOW LIGHT IV is very similar to the uniform luminance levels of daylight. The room is immersed in natural, pleasant und unobtrusively bright light – with sufficient shadow detail and contrast rendition. In terms of colour dynamism, too, MELLOW LIGHT IV is inspired by its model, i.e. nature: depending on the respective task and daylight available, the light colour can be adjusted to the working situation from pleasant warm white through to stimulating intermediate white.

Perfectly completed by artificial light through the day
The Balanced Light concept gives lighting designers a tool that enables them to transfer daylight perceived as pleasant into the room. The light becomes alive. Dynamically controlled lighting solutions are based on the imte of day, or adjust to incident daylight. All members of the "Mellow Light" family can be integrated into lighting management systems. Active Light applications with purposefully varied light colours and illuminance levels are possible, as is energy-saving control based on daylight or the presence of people in the room.

Technology behind dynamic colour change
Adjustment of the lighting scene to the huge variety of requirements presenting themselves every day at work is based on the change of intensity as well as a mix of light colours that can be controlled individually. The "Balanced Colour" version of "MELLOW LIGHT IV" is fitted with four fluorescent tubes, 24W each, that can be separately controlled. The two upper tubes e.g. can create a warm colour tone at 2700 K, while the two lower fluorescent tubes can simulate daylight at 6000K. Different colour combinations are also possible.
