Safety is a paramount concern in public buildings like this and is ensured by a whole raft of standards and regulations. These standards and regulations also apply to emergency lighting. The quality of emergency lighting is about more than just how it responds when there is a power failure, it is about how it performs during normal operation hours – in terms of aspects such as energy efficiency, simple maintenance and appealing design, for example.
Zumtobel's emergency lighting meets all these criteria and also gets top marks by blending seamlessly into the shopping centre's architecture: the ARTSIGN, COMSIGN and PURESIGN escape sign luminaires from the ONLITE product range have a simplistic design that enables them to blend unobtrusively into their surroundings. Thanks to ERI spots with their patented lenses, the PURESIGN luminaires are able to do the job of an escape sign luminaire, as well as, an emergency luminaire. Their pictographs are designed in accordance with international Standard ISO 7010, which has already been harmonised in many European countries. This means that ONLITE escape sign luminaires are future-fit.
ONLITE local Controller SB 128 ensures maintenance reliability in the Belgrade shopping centre: the locally monitored system performs all checking tasks and thus provides maximum functional safety at minimum cost. Safety-relevant tests over and above those required by applicable standards are performed automatically and any failures are reported immediately.

The Vodafone Village consists of three linked buildings covering an area of over 67,000 m², which now boast an all-embracing lighting solution. This solution stands out thanks to its energy efficiency and minimal maintenance costs; it also meets high standards in terms of aesthetics, lighting quality and safety.
In particular, designing the emergency lighting systems installed in such spacious areas was no easy feat. This was due to the practical challenges of implementation, as well as, the wide variety of national and international standards and regulations that had to be met. Zumtobel's expertise and many years of experience delivered the kind of expert consulting and innovative solution that are needed to accomplish a demanding project like this.
Zumtobel's ONLITE product range includes an extremely diverse amount of emergency and escape sign luminaires, making it possible to devise a special-purpose solution for each individual area: from the seemingly floating COMSIGN escape sign luminaire in the office areas and the discreet ARTSIGN model in the auditorium, through to the innovative wall and ceiling- mounted RESCLITE emergency luminaires used in the foyer. RESCLITE – fitted with four different optics – excels with its exceptional efficiency and ideal light distribution along the escape route. This makes it possible to realise emergency lighting in conformity with applicable standards using just a few luminaires.
