Design

Seit der fortschreitenden Miniaturisierung der Leuchtmittel und damit auch der Strahlerköpfe wird die Trackbox zu einem immer wichtigeren Gestaltungselement. Erstmals wird nun DISCUS mit dieser neu konzipierten Trackbox ausgestattet. Die Mechanik der Trackbox verschwindet komplett in der 3-Phasen-Stromschiene, so dass die sichtbaren Ausmaße besonders gering ausfallen. Das Design ist geradlinig und puristisch – wie DISCUS selbst – und unterstreicht damit das dezente Deckenbild. Dies wird noch dadurch unterstützt, dass die Trackbox unabhängig von der Strahlerausrichtung immer parallel zur Stromschiene ausgerichtet bleibt.

Zusätzlich ermöglicht die Implementierung der DALI-Funktionalität in die 3-Phasen-Stromschiene optimale Flexibilität bei der Modernisierung bestehender Installationen. Der Strahler ist dafür in spezieller DALI-Ausführung im gleichen Erscheinungsbild wie die Standard-Version lieferbar.

Design

Modern sources of light inspire us to achieve new levels of performance, a principle that applies in particular to the DISCUS spotlight system. Its form is oriented for the first time towards LED technology and adopts this as a basis for its design. The result is correspondingly compact and minimalist: an unobtrusively flat design with an unmistakable appearance. This impression is underlined by the radially arranged blades of the passive cooling attachment, ensuring a long service life for the LED module. For higher illumination output, two HIT versions are also available in the same design. The new track box adapter demonstrates just how fundamentally the theme of spotlights was considered in the design of DISCUS: it is as linear and consistent as the spotlight head itself. In this way, DISCUS, which is also available as a recessed spotlight, discreetly blends into the interior design of shops and showrooms and, at the same time, serves to strengthen brand messages.

Versatility

DISCUS LED The LED version of DISCUS is a real power pack. The quantity of light emitted achieves a luminous flux equivalent to a 20 W HIT or 90 W halogen system, but is significantly more energy efficient, longer lasting and compact. The service life of the LED module is around 50,000 operating hours, meaning that maintenance effort can be more or less disregarded.

For more nuanced lighting, the spotlight can be dimmed via DALI on a 3-phase track for perfect integration into lighting or brand concepts. This makes it possible to solve many accent lighting tasks in shop environments with maximum efficiency.
DISCUS HIT If it is a matter of achieving higher lumen packages with correspondingly high quality colour rendition, the compact HIT versions with up to 70 W are required. These extend the range into highly efficient output levels, while at the same time maintaining the appearance of the DISCUS LED. Last but not least, the easily installed accessories mounted behind the integrated front ring transform the spotlight into an individual lighting tool for impressive presentations.

Thanks to their uniform design, LED and HIT spotlights can be combined at whim, thus ensuring a permanently uncluttered ceiling look.

Versatility

DISCUS Recessed The recessed DISCUS versions enable maximum fusion of light and architecture. The spotlight heads are identical to the surface-mounted versions. Installation and handling are simple and convenient. The minimalist design concept results in a significantly reduced component count. This in turn increases operating reliability and reduces maintenance effort.

The twin-lamp recessed DISCUS version delivers twice the amount of light from a comparatively small space, thus also contributing to a calm ceiling appearance.

Technology

Passive cooling In high-power LED spotlights, cooling plays a vital role. If cooling is not ensured, illumination output and service life suffer. In the case of DISCUS, thermal management is an integral part of the design concept. Cooling is passive, highly efficient and uses a chimney effect: cool air is drawn in and guided from below through the blades. This inflowing air conducts excess heat upwards away from the lighting module. In combination with the perfectly thermally bonded die-cast aluminium spotlight housing, efficient heat dissipation is achieved without compromising its compact size.

Handling

Simple alignment The variety of application areas covered by DISCUS is matched only by its ease of handling. DISCUS always fits comfortably in the hand and can be intuitively rotated in any direction. The solid machining quality of the die-cast aluminium housing is instantly noticeable and more than capable of confidently coping with everyday lighting of retail spaces. Depending on alignment and ceiling height, it may make sense to use an anti-glare ring to reduce glare: with the LED version, this ring is simply clipped on, while in the case of HIT versions it is fitted into the front ring.
