Trends in lighting management

Emergency lighting

Synergies create added value
ONLITE luminaires and emergency lighting systems make a perfect match with the LUXMATE LITENET lighting control system. Not only do they use the same DALI control lines, but all luminaires are integrated into the highly functional, tightly monitored system.
Changing colour temperatures

At the right place, at the right time
The right colour temperature has a major impact in terms of whether a product is bought, a work of art fascinates the beholder or whether people feel at ease. With that in mind, Zumtobel has developed a wide range of luminaires and lighting control technologies – from gradually adjustable white tones to dynamic changes of colour temperature and quantity of light.
Use of daylight

The best light is free
People's need to get the ideal quantity of daylight and natural daylight quality results in perfect adjustment of lighting and blinds, allowing them to eliminate glare and avoid the overheating of rooms.
Saving energy

Daily routine
Having an intelligent system work in the background makes it easy to save energy on an ongoing basis. Working hours, people's presence at the workplace and, above all, daylight open up a wide range of saving opportunities. All this helps to reduce CO2 emissions, something which gives buildings credits to obtain environmental certification.

1 Saving energy

Due to the latest building measures, for instance in the areas of air-conditioning, lighting or room design, environmentally certified buildings have been verified to have a positive impact on their users and therefore also on the company. Surveys have revealed that the employees' performance and motivation increase whereas absence to due illness decreases. In addition to a highly energy-efficient combination of luminaires and lighting management, Zumtobel also provides hands-on support for obtaining certification. The environmental product declaration (EPD) required for that purpose is available for an ever-growing number of Zumtobel products.

Luminaires and light sources

In order to save a maximum of energy, all potential savings must be added up and the lighting installation needs to be maintained on an ongoing basis. The result is more independence from energy price trends, and sustainable reduction of costs and CO2 for many years.
  • Using luminaires fitted with advanced electronic control gear with dimming functions reduces energy consumption by some 25 percent
  • Presence detectors or pre-defined switch-on times provide potential savings in the range from 20 to 40 percent
  • Using daylight reduces energy consumption for lighting by as much as 75 percent
  • A building's cooling load is reduced by properly adjusted control of lighting and blinds

2 Using daylight

Architecture and daylight

Large glass façades are an effective tool to allow as much daylight as possible to enter the building. In this context, blinds and thermal insulation become important issues for planners and designers. Nowadays, almost every building is fitted with a control system, and in the case of refurbishments, too, advanced luminaire and lighting control technologies are used increasingly.
People and daylight

Natural daylight and its dynamic changes are essential to make us feel good. Perfect lighting takes varying room situations and people's needs into account. This induces ongoing adjustment to people's individual vision, the visual tasks and duties they have to perform, as well as changes according to the weather, season and time of day.
Light is the elixir of life

Directional sunlight and the sky's diffuse light combine to create dynamic lighting scenes; even the colours of light are based on the 24-hour cycle. Variable light colours and illuminance levels influence the production of hormones. This in turn stabilises people's circadian wake-sleep rhythms, enhancing stimulation, making them feel at ease and enhancing their sense of time.

 Winter

 Summer

Daylight used in five intelligent ways:

1 Makes optimum use of sunlight
2 Prevents distracting glare
3 Preserves a visual link with outdoors
4 Adjusts the room climate in winter and summer alike
5 Makes sure façades look attractive

Look Out sensors

If incident light is captured centrally on the roof of a building or on the actual window frontage, lighting control systems work more accurately and involve less effort than constant-light sensors. Depending on the position of the luminaire, the lighting control system adds sufficient artificial lighting to achieve the desired lighting level.

3 Changing colour temperatures

People's inner clocks are stabilised by predefined time lines which create the right light colour and lighting level suitable for any time of day. Subtle changes in white tones suffice to provide stimulation or relaxation. Nowadays, design concepts take the biological effect of light on people's inner clocks more strongly into account. The basis of biologically effective lighting concepts is the effective use of daylight – if daylight is not available, intelligently controlled artificial lighting takes over its functions to the greatest possible extent.

4 Integrating emergency lighting

Luminaires for general lighting
Emergency luminaires as part of general lighting
A perfect combination: LUXMATE LITENET and the central ONLITE supply system use the same DALI circuit to ensure trouble-free communication.
Safety is a basic human need and so is light. Where an integrated solution is used, the emergency lighting components remain unobtrusive during normal operation, revealing their true capabilities only in the event of testing or an emergency.

Jeszcze kilka miesięcy temu hala dysponowała przestarzałym oświetleniem: niewystarczające światło, duża awaryjność oraz skomplikowana konserwacja nieustannie zakłócały procesy produkcyjne i generowały wysokie koszty.

Zamykając restaurację wieczorem wystarczy przekręcić kluczyk w centralnym włączniku, a obiekt zdominuje światło czerwone, dopasowane do barw oficjalnego wizerunku przedsiębiorstwa.
